For this open plan space in NYC, we gave the impression of an entryway by wrapping the walls around the front door in reclaimed barnwood. To update this popular wall application, we added 1-inch wood spacers in between the boards. The spacers and front door are painted to complement the barnwood. Continuing with this natural theme, we inset a piece of bluestone into the wood floor to create the most hardwearing doormat. We designed and built the bench to fit the space and also for practicality (you can fit a tray underneath to store wet boots). Finally, all these subtle shades of grey are enlivened by bold artwork.
